1) Urinal tube is disconnected, top is unclamped, raised and latched up. Vent fan remains on. Gasket surfaces are wiped down of any condensation.
2) Bin is sequestered for a period of time to comply with local health regulations and then used for fertilizer. Urine likewise may be sequestered for 6 months to insure safeness and otherwise is a valuable fertilizer.
3) Tank is hosed out if desired, then dried.
4) A 2-3" bed of chips is added to tank.
5) Tank is reinstalled, clamped in and urine hose reattached. During hot weather, composting mode users may want to spray insecticide or diatomaceous earth in toilet before closing up.
